MEMBERS OF THE BOARD

Richard Blitstein

L.Ac. MSTOM, Dipl Ac. Dipl CH is the owner of The Healing Point, an acupuncture and Chinese herbal practice in Chicago, IL. He is also a professor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in their Oriental Medicine and Chinese Herb Department as well as a supervisor in the school clinic. His interest in research has led him to investigate pattern differentiation in cyclic vomiting patients at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and lead a research study on interobserver reliability in Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis techniques. His research has been published in the journals Medical Acupuncture and The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. He has also been a presenter at the AAOM conference, Society for Acupuncture Research Conference, Pacific Symposium and Resolve Fertility Conferences. In addition, Richard has worked on the editorial board of the journal Integrative Cancer Therapies.

Mary Kate Daly

Mary Kate Daly is director of new hospital communications at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Following two years in a Congressional office on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, she has worked at Children's Memorial for the past 9 years in various government relations, community relations and public affairs roles. Mary Kate earned her BA in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts in 1998, and her MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in 2007 with concentrations in marketing and nonprofit management. She and husband Brian welcomed their son Liam to the world in August 2008. Mary Kate is the Board Treasurer of Mindful Medicine Worldwide.

Barry J. Kaplan

Barry J. Kaplan, J.D. is a trial attorney for the U.S Department of Justice in the Antitrust Division. Barry received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin and his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1971. Barry has participated on the Board of Directors for the River North Chicago Dance Company for four years and has acted as President of the Dr. Morris A. Kaplan and Celia F. Kaplan Foundation for 15 years. Barry is the Board Chairperson of Mindful Medicine Worldwide.

Sarah Workneh

Sarah Workneh is the Director of Skowhegan, an intensive artists' residency for emerging visual artists. She received her Bachelors' Degree from the University of Maryland in Linguistics and Russian Language and Literature. She has completed coursework towards a graduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Social Movement Theory and Liberation Theology. She is also on the boards of Threewalls, artists residency, Roots and Culture Contemporary Art Center, and The Lot, an exhibition and performance space in Detroit. Sarah is the Board Secretary of Mindful Medicine Worldwide.
